I normally don’t watch that many Xianxia CDrama (aka ones about fantasy China inspired by China’s mythology). But this one popped up on my radar. So I decided to watch the trailer for kicks. By the way, the opening theme song for Ancient Love Poetry is beautiful.
So. Many. Feels.
Reminds me of Eternal Love.
Anyone watch that one?
That one was good in my opinion. If Ancient Love Poetry is on the level of Eternal Love, I would watch it hands down.
But anyways, before I move too ahead of myself, here’s the synopsis for this Xianxia.

Synopsis
There are gods but then there are the 4 True Gods. Leaders and tasked with the protection of the various realms. Shang Gu is next line as the next leader and she has much to learn.
Bai Jue has been tasked with teaching this mischievous upcoming leader with the skills she needs to take on the demons threatening the peace of the realm.
As the two spend time together, love slowly blossoms. But when catastrophe happens, Shang Gu loses her memories.
Shang Gu wakes up many years later, and memories of what happened 300 years ago were completely wiped.
But her former lover, Bai Jue, never forgot about her.
Sacrificing his reincarnation for her life, he waited for her for 60,000 years.
This time around, Shang Gu will be the one waiting for him. Even if millions of years pass, she would never, ever leave.

In case you’re wondering, there IS a novel that this cdrama was loosely based on. You can find it here. At this point, you could probably assume that most cdramas nowadays have a novel version of it.
Anyways, I already have a feeling that this cdrama will make me cry buckets. T_T
As it will be about more than one lifetime of love and trials.
I haven’t really seen Xu Kai’s acting before so I’d be curious to see how he will portray a cold-hearted immortal who eventually melts over time. (Aka an Ice Block XD)
Hmm.
It is a really pretty cdrama so I think I’ll give it a shot.
What about you guys? Have you already watched Ancient Love Poetry? What did you think of it?

I haven’t yet. I tend to stay with the Hallmark Channel- like dramas. I am trying to pick up Chinese and from what I’ve been told that is the easiest to understand. Because of your recommendation, I might try eternal love though.
